Stephen’s March column for Psychology Today, Worlds Colliding – Communities grapple with youth suicide, raises and answers the question, “Is suicide contagious?”  It also reveals warning signs of young people in distress and explores community approaches to suicide prevention.

Stephen’s March column in The Huffington Post, LOL (Love Out Loud) speaks to the importance of promoting emotional intelligence in young people and how important that is in times of crisis.

Stephen’s work on mentoring was featured in an A+ Advice for Parents syndicated column written by former Time For Kids President Leanna Landsmann.  The column appeared in yesterday’s edition of The Tennessean.

On Saturday, February 22nd Stephen delivered a keynote address on leadership to doctors at a conference in Hershey, PA sponsored by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Stephen is a member of AAFP’s professional development faculty.

Stephen’s February contribution to The Huffington Post, What Boys Need, focuses on myths of manhood and what adults, especially parents, can do to raise emotionally intelligent boys.

On Saturday, February 8th Stephen received the American Camp Association’s Camping Magazine Golden Quill Award for Excellence. The award, which was presented at the closing ceremonies of ACA’s 2014 national conference in Orlando, FL, was bestowed in recognition of Stephen’s “exceptional contribution to the quality and value of Camping Magazine since 2005.”

Stephen spoke at the 2014 American Camp Association national conference in Orlando, FL on Saturday, February 8th. His remarks, “Ready, Set, Go! How Camp Prepares Children for Lives of Success,” focused on his original research-driven “pillars of success,” providing camp directors with concrete action steps they can take to help young people excel.

On Monday, January 27th, Stephen spoke at the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) in Indianapolis, IN.  Stephen’s remarks, titled “Game Changers: Reducing Adolescent Risk Behaviors Through An Intentional, Relational Approach” referenced the role that educators, especially athletic coaches, play in promoting positive youth outcomes while reducing risk.  Among NFHS’s objectives are to
