Stephen’s new feature article in the January/February edition of Camping Magazine, Unpacking Summer, addresses the difficulty many young people face at times of transition, in this case the end of summer camp. It includes input and advice from Cape Cod Sea Camps campers and their parents and offers some strategies that apply to most any transition. It also outlines common social-emotional reactions to loss and helps us to better understand a normal grieving process and how to help kids cope in such circumstances. This will also be the topic of Stephen’s upcoming presentation at the American Camp Association’s annual conference in Atlanta, GA.
