On behalf of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy’s (ONDCP) National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign, Stephen Wallace, Chairman and CEO of SADD, and an author on parenting today’s teens, conducted twelve radio interviews on Thursday, October 9th to discuss the link between stress and drug use among teens and provide parents with tips on how they can best monitor their teen’s behavior. The latest research shows that teens who report feeling stressed most frequently are more likely than their less stressed counterparts to say they drink alcohol (40 percent to 29 percent, respectively) or use marijuana (19 percent to 13 percent, respectively).
The media outlets included three national radio programs (CNN Radio, AURN American Urban Radio, and Cable Radio) and ones in Syracuse, Richmond, Boston, Washington, DC, Sr. Louis, Miami, Pittsburgh, and Kansas City. Dallas will soon be added to the tour.
