SADD Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephen Wallace was recently honored by the American Camp Association (ACA) for his efforts to promote the benefits of the summer camp experience. The Special Recognition Award was presented to Mr. Wallace at a ceremony during ACA’s national conference in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was speaking to camp directors about youth mentoring. Awards Committee member Andre Brewer introduced Wallace, saying, “As a former camper, counselor, head counselor and director at Cape Cod Sea Camps, our next recipient of the 2008 Special Recognition Award has made camping, teaching, research and public speaking his life’s work. Through his work with teens, he has shared his knowledge and insights to a national audience. His work with Students Against Destructive Decisions as well as ACA has benefited educators and youth alike. Please join me in congratulating Stephen Wallace for being a tireless and passionate advocate for youth and the camp movement.”
